Apparantly, my blog has some influence at FullTilt. Within days after my post about not being able to work my plan at that site because they didn't offer micro-limits, they went and added them. Must be me, right?
So, I've been able to work the plan at both sites.
Interestingly enough, my funds at FullTilt have seen some growth. I still seem to see a large range in ROI for any given session, positive and negative, but I think that's mostly because of the level. My roll is in the range that has me playing $.02/$.05, so the opponents are rather erratic. Overall, the NET has been positive, and I'm bordering on moving up to the next level!
PokerStars has actually been more of a roller coaster lately, although I've stayed steady enough to still be playing $.05/$.10. On the plus side, I had a craving for some tournament play yesterday and found one that was within the buy-in range for the plan. I played the Stars $30K guarantee and finished in the top 10% of the field for a 63% ROI. Craving sated for now.
While most of the "two steps forward, 1.9 steps back" can be attributed to bad beats and suckouts by poor players, I am still aware of the leak that pride brings to my game. I've found at the end of the sessions with the bigger negative ROIs that I'm still looking back and seeing hands where I thought my hand 'deserved' to win and played it too aggressively or held on to it too long when all the signals said it was beat.
I'm doing it far less often, but it's still happening. I think I might try to journal the times it happens to see if there is a common element that might help me be aware 'in the moment' instead of in hindsight.
Meanwhile, the job search continues. Networking has provided some interesting contacts, but not much has panned out. A local newspaper article mentioned that a counter position at a local doughnut shop recently generated nearly 100 applicants the first day it was listed. It also mentioned that most recruiters and hiring managers receive so many resumes for open positions that even just acknowledging their receipt would be overwhelming.
The times, they are crazy.
